Mill B North Fork, Trail

Back to the Salt Lake Area
1.3 miles from trailhead to overlook
Less than 1000 feet in elevation change
Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah

Mill B North Fork Overlook is a moderate hike that lies a little way up Big Cottonwood Canyon next to the iconic "S" curve. You will find the trailhead on the North side of the road as you are exiting the "S" curve going up the canyon. Despite the absolutely ridiculous number of cars parked around this trailhead, Mill B North Fork is not a very popular trail. The trail starts just a couple yards off the main road, with a sign and some very clear wooden steps.

Recap

The Overlook at Mill B North Fork wound up being more challenging than we anticipated. Nearly the whole trail is decently steep running switchbacks all the way up to the overlook. At least 3/4 of the trail leaves you completely exposed to the afternoon sun, so it was quite hot. Despite all that however, it was very nice seeing all the honeybees and butterflies swarming the many flower patches scattering along the trail. While this trail isn't as popular as many of the others surrounding it, it was a little busy. We encountered multiple groups of people on the trail on the way up and on the way back down.

There was almost no trash on the last half of the trail, the majority of the trash was broken glass and cigarette butts found near what looks like the remains of a bonfire near the beginning of the trail. As well as near the peaceful looking rock that sits in the middle of the creek  just beyond the remains of the bonfire. This is a trail we would hike again to show mountain flowers to someone who had never seen them before. Other than that, there are more scenic trails to venture.
